Profile 2.jpg

Alberto Aquilina is an architect and set designer based in Malta and the UK.

His work explores the relationship between design and communal joy, drawing inspiration from his childhood in Malta, particularly the cultural summer festivals. Alberto, who has a developed architectural background, recognises the importance of space. This enables a more focused and expressive design, which benefits both the performer and the audience. Sketching, model making (both physical and digital), 2D draughting, and digital graphics convey concepts from thorough research into potential design and staging for theatre, music, fashion shows and events.

Alberto received a Diploma in Design Foundation from the University of Malta in 2018, a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Built Environment Studies from the University of Malta in 2021, and a Master of Arts in Design for Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff in 2024.
